Maximising the value of cloud technology

Calling all architects and cloud champions - this is the perfect workshop for you!

Join us to hear from three excellent speakers as they share their story on how they are driving value out of the cloud for their business. You will hear from Uniper, a large energy provider based in Germany, and Coventry City Council, a major local government body, as well as engaging in our roundtable discussions with peers from across the membership. Come along and take the opportunity to ask your questions from our experts to build your capabilities and skillset in this area.

As with all of our workshops, the day will be sales-free and run under the Chatham House Rule. Attendance (including lunch and coffee breaks) is entirely free as part of your organisation's subscription.

Adam Simmonds, Coventry City Council - Cloud: More than a buzzword
In Adam's presentation, he will discuss how cloud is a buzzword that can encompass so much more than just technology. It is an enabler for culture change in the workplace, in how systems are designed, in how we interact with our cities.

Gareth Naylor, Uniper - Uniper's Digital Journey
Gareth will be telling the story of how Uniper has moved from Win7 on-premise managed traditional desktop service to a Windows 10 / Office 365 desktop service that is completely managed in the cloud.

Andrew Edwards, Uniper - Lessons learnt from an aggressive cloud migration strategy
After following an aggressive cloud strategy an overview of some of the lessons learnt and things to consider when moving. Applications, Identity Management and Automation.

Gareth Naylor

Gareth's main focus and skills are in the development and delivery of IT strategy as well as measuring progress in a multi-supplier, outsourced environment. In his role at Uniper, Gareth is leading the digital transformation and helping the business to transform itself.

Andrew Edwards

Groupwide Enterprise Technology Architect, Uniper


Andrew is an experienced Architect with a range of diverse interests and experiences from across the entire enterprise technology and architecture stack.

Adam Simmonds

Lead Architect, Coventry City Council


Adam's journey started off back in 2004 as a 16 year old work experience placement at a university. Since then, Adam has done a variety of roles though from Service Desk to Infrastructure Engineer looking after Exchange, Active Directory - the list goes on. As of today he is the Lead Architect at Coventry City Council, responsible for Technology and Innovation for the Internal IT Service and the City Public Realm. This includes everything from moving to Office 365, modernising internal IT systems to getting Driverless Cars, 5G, IoT and Superfast Broadband into the city in the run up to City of Culture 2021 and beyond. He is a highly motivated technology evangelist who enjoys empowering others to use technology to enrich (not replace) lives.
