Going green: making the case for sustainable technology

Future and currently employees now expect organisations to be embracing environmental initiatives as the effects of climate change increasingly make themselves apparent. Additionally, current evidence now shows that an environmentally sustainable organisation also stands to be a more profitable organisation. But what can technology teams be doing to really drive the sustainability agenda?
With the recent publication of the 'Greening government: sustainable technology strategy 2020', DEFRA is looking to bring ecologically sound practices to both their use of technology and other organisations too. Adam Turner, chair of the delivery unit behind the strategy, will cover their move from “estates to services”, from “green to sustainability” and the reasons behind it.

Session takeaways
  • Hear what your organisation can be doing to minimise its environmental impact
  • Understand what you can do to ensure your purchased technology services are both sustainable and ethical
